Dave & Busters have one of the most modern pay-to-play systems available. A power card is similar to a debit card, but for use with Dave & Buster’s video game machines. In exchange for real money, Dave & Busters will add chips (sometimes called credits) onto the card. If you want to play a video game, you would swipe the power card through the reader that’s attached to each video game.

Chips will be taken off the card (depending on the video game and the players skill). Once the power card reaches zero balance, the power card can be re-charged with digital chips online or inside Dave & Busters. To give you an idea of how this all would work if you opted for the least expensive Dave & Busters kid’s birthday package – the slam dunk – guests would each receive a $10 power card. Not all of the video game machines at Dave Busters dispense tickets that you can exchange for prizes. Some of the older arcade style machines (joystick and two buttons style) just don’t have a ticket system built in. These are the machines that you can play for an unlimited amount of time.
